Which years are leap years?
A year is a leap year if it is divisible by 4, except century years, which must also be divisible by 400. So 2000 and 2400 are leap years, but 1900, 2100, 2200 and 2300 are not. Recent and upcoming leap years include 2020, 2024, 2028, 2032 and 2036.
The key difference
Through February the numbers match a common year. From 1 March onward, every day-of-year is one higher than in a non-leap year because of February 29 (day 060).
